Last summer, Manchester United released some of their best players for free after the expiry of their respective contracts. Their departures left a big void in the squad but Ten Hag was clever enough to compensate for the deficiencies by recruiting even better players to replace them. One ex-players who stood out however was Paul Pogba who returned to his formative club Juventus on a free transfer for the second time.
His return to Juventus has however been met with many impediments. He recently sustained a ligament tear in his Achilles which has called for a surgery that will be done in a week’s time. Additionally, he is involved in some family drama with his brother who is threatening to leak some of the player’s misdemeanors if he doesn’t clear out his name in a recent robbery case.

Although it was a painful moment for fans to see him leave in the summer, many believe that it was for the best and the situation would have been harder if he had stayed behind. In his place, Scott McTominay has been deployed to fill his boots but luckily enough has the creative support of Christian Eriksen. Juventus are now feeling the pressure of having the Frenchman on their side especially after ditching Dennis Zakaria to Chelsea in the last minute.

McTominay has developed into a top player for Manchester United…
Speaking of McTominay, he has been phenomenal this season. Many are even claiming that he could bench Casemiro for the major part of this season if he continues to perform consistently over the next few weeks. Don’t get me wrong, Casemiro is a worldclass technician but McTominay’s recent performances have surpassed the threshold for perfection and that is a big positive.

Manchester United must do everything to ensure that Scott McTominay commits to the club on a long term basis. His contract is due to expire in the next years but a number of clubs are reportedly drafting plans of signing him next summer. There is a chance that Ten Hag might be forced to put him on sale if Casemiro finally gets his groove in the squad.
