Despite the world cup frenzy, Graham Porter is continuing preparations with his squad in Abu Dhabi. He hopes to improve on his performances which have been 50/50 in terms of satisfaction because he has not yet lived up to the expectations since he arrived from Brighton and Hove Albion. To him, the plans ahead involve ensuring that his squad is all fit and ready for the second round of the league with the expectations of at least making it into the top four.
Before the EPL resumes, Chelsea will participate in the Al Wadha challenge cup, where they will play against Aston Villa. If Chelsea wins, this will be Graham Porter’s first silverware for the club which expects a lot from him. This is even though he will be lacking the services of three of his first eleven key players; Wesley Fofana, Ben Chilwell, and Ngolo Kante who despite joining their teammates in Abu Dhabi, continue nursing and recovering from their injuries.
The squad in Abu Dhabi expects to be joined by the world cup losers as the tournament continues. The team includes several academy players, while the ones from the senior team include: Kepa, Chalobah, Chilwell, James, Cucurella, Fofana, Jorginho, Kante, Cheek, Chukwuemeka, Aubameyang, and Broja.
