England Player Raheem Sterling Flies Back To The UK After Armed Intruders Invade His Family Home

Raheem Sterling started the games against Iran and the USA before he was dropped for the win over Wales

Due to armed intruders breaking into his house while his family was inside, Raheem Sterling is leaving England's World Cup camp and returning to the UK.

After starting two of the Three Lions' three World Cup games so far, Sterling missed England's 3-0 victory against Senegal in the round of 16 after being ruled out of the squad due to a family concern just before kickoff.

Sterling was reportedly distraught and worried for his children's safety when he heard about the break-in and wanted to get home as quickly as possible.

Sterling's return to the UK has been confirmed by manager Gareth Southgate but if the conditions are perfect, it's believed the player may also go back to Qatar.

On Saturday, England will play France in the quarterfinals. When asked if Sterling may return to participate in the tournament, Southgate responded, "I honestly don't know; it's a matter he needs time to deal with, and I don't want to put any pressure on him.Family should always come first, sometimes football isn't the most essential thing."
