Chelsea football club are currently hailing the perfomances displayed by their first choice goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy. The Senegalese joined the London top club before the start of last season and has since maintained exceptional perfomances. His rival for the starting lineup is Spanish goalkeeper,Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Many people have got to know Mendy after his arrival at Stamford Bridge. Very few know the player's past before he joined Chelsea. Mendy played for Rennes,a club which plays in Ligue 1. He played in Le Havre academy before he signed professional contract with third tier club Cherbourg in 2011.
The player has represented Senegal's national team severally. His perfomances both at club and international level have been spectacular. It has been revealed that the player was close to quitting football seven years ago.
According to Fabrizio Romano,the player was unemployed and was going through difficult times. However, despite these tremendous challenges, Edouard Mendy never lost hope. He is currently untouchable at Chelsea with his yesterday's perfomances against Brentford earning the Blues three points.
