What's going on with Kenyan football team?

FKF President Nick Mwendwa

Kenyan football ball Harambee stars has today been disqualified from playing the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers by Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Thursday, 19th May. Harambee stars had been placed in a pool with Cameroon, Namibia and Burundi. CAF said that the country had not resolved the outstanding issues with FIFA. Harambee stars will now have to wait longer enough to be able to participate in any regional or continental competitions.

Harambee stars had been set to start their Africa Cup of Nations campaign on June 4th against Cameroon which sounds now like a dream to the Kenyan football team. All these has happened after the CS for sports Amina Mohammed expelled FKF led by Nick Mwenda early November last year due to mismanagement of resources. The CS later appointed a caretaker committee that has been in charge of the football games in the country. FIFA was not pleased with these decisions and decided to ban Kenya from participating in any football activities as the government had interfered with football matters.
