Following the free entrance at Kasarani yesterday to watch the Kip Keino athletics, the field was half full of Kenyans coming to cheer their stars. This was contrary to to the usual Sh 200 entrance fee which made some willing people not to attend and watch the competitions. The competitions were officially opened by president Uhuru Kenyatta and kicked off at 12:35. There were different categories of events that were to be performed. They included 100m both men and women, 3000m, 5000m, 10000m among others.
The day was lit by different stars from different parts of the world. Every athletee was struggling to mentain the rewarding positions according to the programme. According to world regulations there is total prize of 25,000 US dollars. Every athletee who managed to acquire the top eight position was greatly rewarded.
Position one was given 5,000 USD while position two was given 3,000 US dollars, position three was given 2000 USD. Position four was awarded 1400 USD, position five was given 1200 USD, position six was awarded 1000 USD, position seven was given 800USD and finally position eight was bagged 600 USD.
From the sponsors, Absa added 500 US dollars for each winner. All winners smiled all the way home.
