Opinion: Why The Supereagles Should Feel Aggrieved By The Referee's Decision During Their Draw With Tunisians

Yesterday was a great night for the football lovers especially in african. Two football giants met in a friendly encounter that saw Tunisia drawn against The Supereagles of Nigeria.

The match lived to expectations and never disappointed.Nigerian coach Gernot Rohr chose a very strong side but questions will be asked about his defensive minded approach that saw him go for 5-4-1 formation. Five defenders in a friendly might be viewed as too defensive by some.

As for Tunisia, they approached the game more positively with a formation of 4-3-2-1.Tunisian coach Kebaier definitely came for the maximum points here.

The Supereagles started brightly with former Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho slotting home an excellent finish proving he's the best attacker for the national team at the moment.

The most controversial moment of the match came shortly after Iheanacho's goal when Tunisian goalkeeper Farouk Ben Mustapha brought down Ahmed Musa inside the box.

FIFA rules are well stipulated that if an opponent who's the last man brings down a player inside the box,two things should happen. A penalty ought to be awarded and the player sent off.

In this case Nigerian players should feel aggrieved as Farouk remained in the pitch and went ahead to save the penalty that was awarded. Iheanacho's spot-kick was extremely poor and perhaps Rohr should look for another penalty taker but that aside Farouk should have been seen sent off but the central referee chose not to.

Tunisians would go ahead to score through their right back Mohammed Drager after embarrassing Moses Simon who was very poor. The attack minded Tunisians and especially Drager constantly attacked and the Supereagles were lucky not to lose especially in the second half.

The match ended 1-1 but the Nigerians will feel let down by the referee's decision not to send off Farouk.
