The County government of Homabay, is currently constructing the an ultra-modern stadium within Homabay town which is set to be an international sporting ground. This is according to the Homabay county Governor Hon Cyprian Awiti who says that the facility will be one of the best in the country, and will be capable of holding the topmost sports activities due to its set standard features.
The stadium is set to resemble the Wembley Stadium in England which is one of the best stadia in the world. “I want major Kenyan football league matches to be held in the stadium. So the earlier the project is complete the better. This facility will resemble Wembley Stadium in London,” said Governor Awiti during one of inspection visits as reported by the Standard.

The structure will enable the facility to have a large capacity of up to 20,000 people which will make it to be one of the largest along the lake region. The other features which the stadium is set to contain are; four charging rooms, conference room, floodlights, media turbines, soccer pitch, athletics, rugby, basketball, volleyball and many other sports courts. This will come with a whooping cost of Sh360 million according to details from the governor's office.
