The late Agnes Jebet Tirop will be buried Saturday in her parent's home in Nandi County.Tirop, a 2015 World Cross Country champion was found dead in his home in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County last week.
“We are still shocked by the sudden death of our athlete in the Central Rift region. However, we are relieved and we are continuing with the preparations to give him a fair chance, ”said Kitilit.
“The committee was convened on Friday and includes the chairman and general secretary of the Central Rift region. The dates have already been set and tomorrow we expect an autopsy on Harambee on Wednesday and after that he will be laid to rest on Saturday at his parents' home, ”said Kitilit.
Meanwhile, an Italian court on Monday ruled that Ibrahim Rotich, the main suspect in Tirop's murder, would remain in custody for 20 days pending the completion of a police investigation.
Rotich, who was the deceased's husband, was arraigned before Magistrate Charles Kutwa where the prosecutor wanted more time to keep him.
The court ordered the suspects to be detained at the Eldoret train station. He will also undergo a psychiatric examination at Eldoret Teaching and Referral Hospital.The trial is set to begin on November 9.
