The Sports Cabinet Secretary who was together with Athletics Kenya head Jackson Tuwei condoled with the bereaved family and stating that her demise did not only surprised the country, but the world at large.
Amina said that women athletes encounter something called monumental problems in their work.
She noted that Agnes Tirop was stabbed to death during the period when the ministry of sports was coming up with an athletes’ welfare taskforce, which is anticipated to come with solutions of eradicating such like problems.
“It is difficult for me, all her colleagues and the whole world to stay and live without Agnes Tirop. It is shocking that she was stabbed to death by someone alleged to be her husband,” Amina said while addressing mourners at the home of the late athlete’s parents.
The slain Agnes Tirop will be burried at her parent’s farm on Saturday.
Detectives nabbed Rotich on Thursday in the coastal city of Mombasa, saying he was attempting to escape to the neighbouring country to evade police arrest.
Agnes Tirop was found dead this month after she broke the women's 10-km world record in Germany.
