Chelsea football club are in negotiations to complete the signing of a key player before the transfer window closes.
Reports indicate that Thomas Tuchel is keen to secure more additions with the midfield position and defence role top of his priority list.
With the Champions league title defence and and challenging for major domestic trophies, the German tactician has already made key summer signings with the latest being the arrival of former Blues prodigy, Inter Milan and Belgian international striker Romelu Lukaku.
And according to AthleticUK Football correspondent David Ornstein, the Blues are tirelessly working to ensure their capture Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez on long season loan with an option to buy.
" Chelsea actively working on deal to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez. Negotiations are for a loan with option to buy. 26yo Spain international contracted at #Atleti until 2026 but optimism all round that he now joins." He tweeted.
The 26-year-old midfielder is under contract at Atletico, the only club he has ever played for, until 2026.
With Saul falling down the pecking order at Atletico and has only played 33 games last season as Atletico won La Liga, scoring two goals. The arrival of central midfielder Rodrigo de Paul this summer means Saul chances of playing are limited with the Blues determined to sign him.
