Announcing to the media, Biles stated that she wanted to focus on her mental health. This message shocked her fans who expected the best performance from her and bring a gold medal home. However she has received immense praise from the USA gymnastics, the head of the US Olympic team and her fellow athletes for her decision to prioritize her mental wellbeing and is a great role model.

The gymnast was supposed to defend her all-around title on Thursday before competing in the finals of the vault and uneven bars on 1st, 2nd and 3rd August.
