Chelsea Defender Ben Chilwell Sends Message To Chelsea Fans After Sustaining ACL Injury

The England international was forced off during Chelsea's 4-0 Champions League triumph against Juventus on Tuesday evening. The 24-year-old has been one of Chelsea's standout performances in recent weeks and has promised to return as soon as possible.

Ben Chilwell has admitted that he is'very frustrated' after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury that will keep him out for the remainder of Chelsea's season. ‘Very frustrating picking up an injury in a moment like this when I am really enjoying my football and playing in this team,’ Chilwell tweeted. I will do everything I can to get back on the pitch as soon as possible. Thank you for all the messages of support.’

However, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has disclosed that the club's medical staff are still determining the seriousness of Chilwell's injury and if the defender will need surgery. ‘Ben has a partial injury of his ACL and the decision is to treat it conservatively,’ said Tuchel.

Tuchel also described Chilwell's scenario as 'very sad,' with the defender injuring himself after a strong run of form. ‘We need to talk about it again in six weeks, maybe we don’t need to talk about it because everything is fine,’ said Tuchel.
