Motherwell vs Rangers
Steven Gerrard’s charges have racked up 18 clean sheets along the way to ridiculous 21-point lead in the standings, albeit having played three games more than their Old Firm rivals, as they’re currently enjoying a 15-game winning streak that’s seen them score 42 goals and concede on just four occasions.
That includes win to nil’s in four of their last five appearances, despite having encountered each of the three teams directly below them in the table during this recent spell.
By contrast, Motherwell have lost six of 10 winless matches since November and failed to score more than once in any of these outings.
In fact, they’ve drawn a blank in four of their five defeats since December, and despite scoring in both clashes with Rangers this season, we’d expect this to be third time lucky for the visitor’s backline.
The Gers had a rare moment where they switched off and conceded a late own goal when already 5-0 up at this venue back in September, while Motherwell scored with their first attack when they met at Ibrox last month before defending for their lives until and Rangers struck three times late on.
Although the win to nil holds the greatest appeal, the Gers also look tasty on the handicap. Motherwell have gone down by at least two clear goals in seven of their past eight defeats, including all four clashes with the Old Firm duo this season, as Rangers have covered the -1 handicap in five of their past six head-to-heads now.
The quality of Rangers’ recent opponents has meant more conservative victories, but that bet has landed in 13 of their 16 clashes with teams outside the top four.
