Reasons why Manchester United could beat Chelsea tonight

Chelsea will welcome a struggling Manchester United side at Stamford Bridge tonight in the Premier League. The Red Devils are in serious trouble as they prepare to face yet another Premier League powerhouse. Manchester United, while being a 'giant' on paper, has performed like a minnow in recent weeks.

The 4-1 thrashing at the hands of newly-promoted Watford proved to be the final nail in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's coffin. For the time being, Michael Carrick is their caretaker manager, and Ralf Rangnick is expected to take over as interim head coach for the remainder of the season. In terms of Manchester United, this is a step in the right way. But they'll have to first save themselves from the landslide they've created by lowering their standards dramatically this semester. Thomas Tuchel's men, on the other hand, have been firing on all cylinders. Manchester United, on the other hand, will not be taken lightly due to their firepower. Let's look at five reasons why Manchester United could beat Chelsea tonight without further ado.

A Manchester United response is required.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appeared to be running out of ideas in his closing weeks as Manchester United manager. While the Old Trafford crowd had hoped for a response from their team against one of their rivals, it never seemed to materialize.

Despite their terrible displays in many matches, Solskjaer stuck with the incredibly inept defensive combo of Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw. Only two teams have conceded more goals this season than United, who have lost five of their last seven Premier League games. Maguire is suspended for the game against Chelsea while Shaw is out injured and this could very well be a blessing in disguise. Eric Bailly will replace Maguire while Alex Telles will take Shaw's spot in the starting lineup. Both players will be hungry to impress. There are plenty of strong characters in this Manchester United side. Their backs are against the wall now and they are the underdogs coming into this one.

That's part of the reason why we could be in for a powerful Manchester United answer tonight.

Manchester United's recent Premier League success versus Chelsea

In their last seven Premier League encounters with Chelsea, Manchester United has gone undefeated. Under Jose Mourinho, they last lost to the Blues in the Premier League in November of 2017. Both times they met in the league last season, the two sides drew 0-0. To say the least, Manchester United has proven to be a difficult opponent for Chelsea in previous years.
