GUINEA-BISSAU VS NIGERIA
Guinea-Bissau will have to give their all in their final Group D game at the AFCON 2021, when they face Nigeria, as their chances of progressing are all pegged on winning this game. Nigeria have already advanced and can only play for a draw to finish tp. As they go to the game, Nigeria have six points while Guinea-Bissau have just a point from two games. A win for Guinea-Bissau will put them in the frame for consideration among one of the best third placed finishers in case Egypt avoid defeat against bottom side, Sudan. To beat Nigeria, Guinea-Bissau will need a lot of improvement from their recent matches. in their last six games, Guinea-Bissau haven’t scored a single goal but they have three clean sheets in their last four matches. They are coming from a 1-0 loss to Egypt, their fourth straight game to produce under 2.5 goals. Eight matches on at AFCON, Guinea-Bissau are yet to register a win.
Nigeria have already secured passage to the next round after wins over Egypt and Sudan. The only goal they’ve conceded in this competition so far was from the penalty spot after VAR review nailed them for a foul in the box in the 3-1 win over Sudan. That win was their fourth in five matches and they’ve kept clean sheets in three. Nigeria have scored two or more goals in three of their last five matches and both sides have scored in two of those five matches. At AFCON, Nigeria are a more successful nation than Guinea-Bissau, with four wins in five. In the last 10 AFCON matches, Nigeria have suffered just two defeats, and won all the rest. In this game, it is expected that Nigeria will make a number of changes, to rest key players ahead of the second round
