Liverpool Vs Newcastle Match Preview, Team News And Possible Starting XI

The Reds will host the Magpies tonight at Anfield for Premier League matchweek five. Jurgen Klopp's side head into the match after thrashing newly promoted side Bournemouth 9-0 on Saturday. The visitors on the other side were held to a 1-1 draw at the Molinaux by Wolves.

The 9-0 victory at Bournemouth marked Liverpool's first win of the 2022/23 campaign after registering a draw in the first two fixtures and thereafter 2-1 loss at Old Trafford.

The Magpies are yet to register a loss in the Premier League, they registered a 2-0 victory against newly promoted side Nottingham Forest and afterwards registered back to back draws against Brighton, City and Wolves.

Liverpool Team News:

Matip, Jota, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ibrahima Konate, Calvin Ramsay and Keita are all out of contention for today's fixture against Newcastle. New summer arrival Darwin Nunez remains suspended, Curtis Jones and Thiago Alcantara are however close to making a return.

Possible starting lineup:

Alisson to start on goal, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk and Robertson to form the back-four. Elliott, Fabinho and Henderson will play at midfield while Salah, Firmino, and Diaz will start upfront.

Newcastle Team News:

New summer arrival Alexander Isak is in line to make his premier league debut against Liverpool. The Sweden International is Newcastle's club-record signing after making a switch from Real Sociedad.

Eddie Howe will be missing some of his key player's with Bruno Guimaraes, Callum Wilson Saint-Maximin, Jonjo Shelvey and Emil Krafth are major doubts ahead of their trip to Anfield.

Possible starting XI:

Pope to start on goal. Trippier, Schar, Botman and Burn to form the backline. Willock and S Longstaff will support Joelinton, Almiron, Wood and Fraser in attack.
