The county government of Nairobi under the then governor, Mike Sonko initiated the plan to have five stadiums refurbished to international standards in the 2018-19 financial year across Nairobi county.Dandora stadium was the first in the list and was coming up at a total cost of ksh 270 million.
In 2019 when the stadium was over 80 percent complete, the stadium was surrounded by corruption allegations and construction works had to be stopped to pave way to EACC to investigate the matter. The awaited EACC report has now delayed the progress of construction work for almost two years now.
Two weeks ago, the Dandora Stadium management threatened to open the stadium while in its current state as the stadium initially served many football clubs which have been homeless since 2018 making its members to turn to other things like crime.
On Wednesday, the management took the first step in this as through the area residents goalposts were installed at the stadium. The stadiums management claimed that they have been patient for a long time now hence their decision.
Do you think the step by Dandora residents is the best? Feel free to share your views on the comment section and remember to share and follow for more news.
