Things have been tough for Kenyan football in the past but this season things went out of hand, football clubs have struggled to meet their expectations not only in delivering quality football but also the professionalism that's required to run a football club has been non existent, thus the unwanting output we have been served with all over the season.
The 2020/21 season has been on and off due to the suspension of all sporting activities by the government and after their untimely resumption the most important elements in the game; The fans, haven't been allowed to grace the fields to support their clubs.
A big blow to Gor mahia and Afc leopards who majorly depend on gate collections to run the day to day activities of the teamYesterday Afternoon Gor Mahia's management prepared a scheme which would be used to uplift the team from the dire situation they are in and also supposedly to help the team to attain financial freedom.
As always the news was received positively and some sections of fans criticized it in equal measure, each faction citing their concerns on the transparency handling of the finances by the club's management in the past and also in the future.
Gor Mahia being the most successful football club within the Kenyan boders, it's a pity to witness what the club has been undergoing and when we expect them to give a descent performance in the most coveted African club football stages it's nothing short of a unachievable ferry tell.
Truth be told by just taking a look at the current champions League holders Al Ahly, Esperance Tunis, Wydad Casablanca, TP Mazembe and Mamelodi Sundows just to mention a few, these are clubs that have a well developed working framework that can easily be accessed by thier enormous fanbase compare it to Gor Mahia which is a community team but it's run like someone's private entity.
Just to do a comparison a closer back home, Yanga FC of Tanzania have rolled out their report on the earnings and expenses of the club, it's incredible! Let's not even talk about their undying support from it's fanbase.
Put that in a weighing machine against Gor Mahia's opaque report on their expenses and club earnings that are never made clearer to the public and even if they do so they'll always arise suspicion.
