Premier league giants Manchester united have been linked with a host of names in the transfer market as they build a squad capable of challenging for both domestic and european honours.

Their defence remains their biggest achilles and they were thought to be interested in signing RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano who has opted to join Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

Upamecano lined up against Liverpool in the champions league match in Hungary at the Puskas Arena a match his side lost by two goals to nil and the defender had a torrid outing.

The French centre back attempted 71 passes on the night but only 51 passes found their targets and this has evoked a reaction from united fans.

"Upamecano is looking bang average tonight, how many times has he given the ball away." wondered the first supporter.

"Bayern Munich can just have him, he wouldn't be an upgrade to what we already have. We need a commanding no nonsense defender." argued a second fan.

"Is Dayot's mind already thinking about lining up for Bayern next season, I have not been impressed at all." spotted a third fan.
