Former Chelsea goalkeeper signs for Southampton for a short term deal

Argentine International goalkeeper Willy Caballero has signed for Premier League's club Southampton FC on a short-term contract.

The Saints have had an injury crisis in the goalkeeping area with both first and second choice goalkeepers both injured. Southampton's Alex McCarthy and Fraser Forster both picked up injuries leaving the team with Harry Lewis who is Southampton's third choice goalkeeper.

The former Chelsea and Manchester City goalkeeper who parted ways with Chelsea last summer has been a free agent ever since and has been training with AFC Wimbledon of Ligue 1to keep himself fit.

Caballero will therefore join The Saints on a free transfer to help them solve their goalkeeping crisis at the moment. Southampton FC next Premier League fixture is against Mikel Arteta's Arsenal who stumbled yesterday at Goodison park from a one goal lead.

Southampton will hope to have Willy Caballero starting the game against Arsenal on Friday night.
