Lionel Messi has officially left Barcelona. Those are words none would ever think would have been uttered. So many superlatives may be employed to describe this Argentinean, but maybe this one stands out, phenomenal.
Barcelona has been home to an endless list of superstars. From Ronaldinho, to Luiz Figo, to Luiz Suarez, to the midfield wizard Andreas Iniesta among many other names. But Messi has distinguished himself as the best among the very best; a man who has won the hearts of many, not just because of his footballing prowess but also because of his gentleness and discipline.
Messi's farewell ceremony was the synopsis of a twenty-one year old novel. A journey that commenced when he was only thirteen years old has finally culminated. Lionel has achieved virtually everything there is to be achieved in world football. The globe can only be grateful for having the privileged to having seen this incredible human.
