The Kenya Kwanza team intended to kick off their Friday tour with an Economic Forum meeting in Embu before going to Ukambani for a series of rallies, with the Bondoni area being one of the planned stops.
The Bondoni event, however, was only attended by UDA Deputy President designate Rigathi Gachagua, Machakos County Governor Alfred Mutua, and a few other dignitaries.
Gachagua addressed the Bondoni audience, expressing Ruto's regret for not being able to come despite the fans' expectations.
He added that Ruto was unable to attend the demonstration since their meeting in Embu took longer than expected. Gachagua told the gathering that they had to part up because they had three more meetings planned in the Ukambani region, with him going the Bondoni meeting and Ruto attending another rally.
"He(Ruto) wanted to come, but we were delayed at another meeting in Embu," Gachagua informed the throng.
He said Ruto had sent him to send his greetings, and that the DP gas pledged to return to the area at a later date.
