Kakamega county under the leadership of Governor Wycliffe Oparanya are coming up with a stadium which suits international standards in Kakamega.The stadium already in use after a successful phase one which was completed in 2017 enabling it to host Cecafa senior challenge the same year.
The first phase of the project included the construction of the VIP and VVIP stand and the fitting of it with 5000 seats.On top of that, it also included the construction of changing rooms, wash rooms and offices enabling the stadium to meet all standards to not only host league matches but also international matches.
The stadium is being built under 3 phases and currently the second phase is going on.This phase will see the stadium gain modern shelter stands to accommodate a total of 30000 people.The phase is scheduled to take 170 weeks.
The third and last phase is set to have the stadium posses conference facilities, indoor gymnasiums, a recreational park, a banking facility, health center, lifts and a modern swimming pool.This phase is expected to come immediately after the completion of phase two.
