Athletics Kenya Makes Crucial Announcement Ahead Of Agnes Tirop Burial Scheduled for Saturday

Athletics Kenya, a body that is mandate in controlling and overseeing athletes in Kenya offices will remaining closed tomorrow, Friday, ahead of the slain athlete Agnes Tirop.

In an official statement released on Thursday, the body informed the public that they will remain closed and not operational in honor of the slain hero who was allegedly murdered by her estranged husband on Wednesday, October 13, 2021.

She was found dead at her house in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County.

Tirop is expected to be laid to rest on Saturday 23rd at her rural home in Kapnyamisa village, Nandi County.

Through a postmortem conducted on Tuesday, the government pathologist revealed that Agnes Tirop’s life was ended by a stab on the neck.

The autopsy carried at Iten County Referral Hospital (ICRH) mortuary further revealed that the World record holder athlete was hit on the head with a blunt object.

After the autopsy, the family transferred the body to Eldoret Hospital mortuary ahead of burial on Saturday.

The prime suspect to her murder, Ibrahim Rotich, who was arrested and arraigned in court is alleged to have confessed to the police of killing her and transferring some of her properties while she was representing the country ion the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
