The Kenyan athletes have started jetting into the country following the conclusion of the world Olympic games which were held Tokyo ,Japan. All eyes are on the national and county government as they prepare to formally recieve these patriots who made Kenya proud in a competitive event attended by almost all countries of the world .
800m Silver medalist Ferguson Rotich was today recieved heroically at his home county ,Kericho. The event was graced by the county governor, Prof Paul Chepkwony who suprised the legendary athlete with several goodies including being made the Goodwill Ambassador for the fight against drug and substance abuse .
The county boss also ordered immediate renaming of Kericho Green Stadium after Wilson Kiprugut Chumo who seized the first Gold medal for Kenya in 1964.The ministry of sport was ordered to effect the renaming of the facility as one way of recognising the role that sports personalities have played in elevating the social and economic status of Kericho county.
The event was also attended by several MCAs , deputy governor, Lily Ngok and the Chief Executive Officer for sports .
