Kenya's Sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala Ranked 8th Worldwide

Omanyala is now the eighth fastest player in the world in a list that features Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake.

Ferdinand Omanyala is now rubbing shoulders with the world's best in the 100m thanks to his blistering finish during the Kip Keino Classic on Saturday, September 18, at the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani.

Omanyala’s time of 9.77 seconds at Kipchoge Keino world continental tour Men's 100M in Kasarani is the second-fastest in the world this year. The ageless Justin Gatlin, who won gold at the 2004 Olympics, came in 3rd place.

Bromell's time cements his place as the sixth fastest track sprinter over the distance with Omanyala becoming the eighth fastest man over 100m in history.

The 25-year-old from Nairobi, who made history in Tokyo by becoming the first Kenyan to reach the men's Olympic 100m semi-finals, knocked 0.09 seconds off his previous best, bettering the mark of 9.84 set earlier this year by South Africa’s Commonwealth champion Akani Simbine.
