NSL's Kenya Police managed to secure a 1-1 draw against KPL side Vihiga United in their FKF PL/NSL promotion/relegation playoff. This was the first leg and it was played yesterday on 12th September, 2021 at the Mumias Sport Complex.
The two goals of the match came from Kenya Police Clinton Kinanga who tapped in the ball to the back of the net in the 9th minute of the match after receiving a perfectly timed cross into the area.
However, Vihiga United fought back as they had the scores leveled at the 25th minute through Lesley Otieno’s goal. Both teams went for half time with scores at 1-1.
The second half saw both teams struggling to take the lead in vain with the match forced to end 1-1.
The second leg of the FKF PL/NSL playoffs will be hosted by Kenya Police at the Ruaraka Grounds on Sunday 19th September, 2021.
Sunday's match will be the decider on which team will be promoted and relegated. Vihiga United will be looking for a way to remain in the league with their sister team Vihiga Bullets who got promoted to the league.
However, Kenya Police are looking for consolation after falling off the second spot. Police who had been trailing NSL winners Talanta FC were overtaken by newly promoted side Vihiga Bullets.
