In the 2023 summer season, the football community may witness several departures from what is regarded as the biggest football club in the world, Real Madrid.
As per a reveal by The Athletic sports website, 7 Real Madrid players have their current contracts expiring on 30th June this year and this may lead into them leaving the club for free this summer.
The long list includes the 2022 Balloon d'Or winner Karim Benzema, Croatian captain Luka Modric, German international Toni Kroos, Marco Asensio, Dani Ceballos, Nacho Fernandez and Mariano Diaz.
The departure of the Los Blancos trio; Benzema, Modric and Kroos may be one of the biggest shockers considering the fact that they have been at the club for long.
As per Real Madrid's policy, the club offers only a season-long contract extension to a player beyond 30 years of age based on his performance.
The three players are currently all above 30 years of age with Benzema at 35, Modric at 37 and Toni Kroos at 33.
