How Chelsea's Loanee Has Been Faring For Besiktas This Season

Summer transfer window Michy Batshuayi decided to give the Turkish Super Lig a go with Besiktas after spending the last few years on the fringes of different European clubs' first teams.

It's safe to say that the 28-year-old Belgian striker on a one-year loan from Chelsea is making waves in Turkey, having established himself as the team's first choice striker.

In spite of Besiktas' dismal season, which has seen them drop to sixth place in the Turkish league table after 12 games, Batshuayi has been excellent for himself.

At the time of writing, the Chelsea loanee had started eight league games and made one substitute appearance for Besiktas.

Batshuayi has four goals and one assist in those league games for his club.

The UEFA Champions League, on the other hand, is where he must improve.

Besiktas striker Michy Batshuayi has yet to score a goal in three Champions League appearances this season for the Turkish side. No wonder they're at the bottom of their group with 0 points from their first 4 encounters!

What's in store for him in the future?

With Chelsea's acquisition in 2016 of Michy Batshuayi, the Belgian has become something of an afterthought. He has now played for four different teams in the last four years, the most recent being Besiktas.

Even at the age of 28, it is clear that Michy Batshuayi's future at Chelsea is bleak. Transfer value and possibly a portion of the reported £33.2m paid to Marseille for his signing are the only reasons for sending him on loan.

It's not clear if he has an obligation clause in his contract that will make the move permanent at the end of the season. A permanent contract with Besiktas, which is what he needs at this point in his career, is something he should strive for in the absence of that.
