An Incredible 18-year National Career Comes To An End

Italy captain Giorgio Chiellini will retire from international football following his summer's Finalissima against Argentina at Wembley stadium in England. The two teams will play in June following their dominance in Europe and South America respectfully. Argentina won the Copa America against Brazil whereas Italy won the European Cup against England.

Giorgio Chiellini announced his retirement after an incredible eighteen year national career comes to an end. The 37 year old captain had planned to continue playing for the national team through the World cup at the end of the season. He moved up his plans after the national team failed to qualify for the World cup.

Chiellini, who has formed a potent centre back pairing with Leonardo Bonucci during his career, is the best defender he had played with. Chiellini's contact with Juventus expires after next season but he wouldn't commit to remain in Turin amid speculation that he wants to end his club career in the United States.
