A number of Kenyan players abroad featured for their respective teams yesterday and here is an insight of how they performed.
Kenyan international Brian Mandela featuring for South African club Mamelodi Sundowns had his name going down into history books after his side defeated Al Ahly 1-0.
The former Tusker FC defender has been significant in the defense for Mamelodi Sundowns in recent games and he extended his form yesterday against Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League.
Mandela was named in the CAF Champions League Matchday Two Team of The Week following his outstanding performance in their barren draw against Sudan's Al Merreikh last weekend.
It was Sundowns' first time to score against the African champions in six visits to Egypt and also their first point(s) in the country to hand Al Ahly their first home defeat in continental competitions since 28 June 2016 (35 games unbeaten).
Elsewhere, Kenyan forward Jonah Ayunga was handed another start by Morecambe as they picked up a point in the 1-1 draw against Ipswich in the English League One.
Morecambe who are relegation-threatened took the lead in the 59th minute courtesy of Aaron Wildig’s diving header but Wes Burns equalised with five minutes to full time.
