Former Gor Mahia Talent Nominated For Defender Of The Year Award

Erik Marcelo, a former Gor Mahia defender, has been nominated for the defender of the Year award in the Swedish top league's end-of-season awards for his brilliance in the Allsvenkan for AIK this season.

Ouma will be up against his captain, Alexander Milosevic, and Djurgaden's Hjalmar Ekdal, for the award.

In the 29 games that AIK has played, Ouma has only missed one game, and he will be hoping to finish his season on a high note this weekend when the 2021 league concludes. Ouma's statistics for the 28 games he's played for AIK are impressive: he's contributed to 11 clean sheets, one goal, and five assists. Milosevic has appeared in 27 games for AIK, guiding the team to 12 clean sheets and scoring three goals and an assist, while Ekdal has appeared in 25 games for Djurgaden, guiding the team to nine clean sheets and scoring four goals.

All Allsvenkan clubs will vote, with coaches and team captains representing them; in addition to the club representations, 32 journalists covering the league will vote.

This weekend is the final weekend of the Allsvenkan league. AIK is two points behind league leaders Malmo, thanks in large part to Ouma's contributions. Malmo takes on Sirius, while AIK takes on Halmstad. If Malmo loses and AIK wins, Ouma has a chance to win the league.

Bring the award home, Marcello.
