One could argue that Ten Hag's most difficult task at United will be getting United's midfield to gel. For years, the position has been ineffective, with Solskjaer and Rangnick failing to get the most out of the club's midfield talent.
With these departures, Ten Hag will require not only tactics but also transfermarket additions. United have been chasing Frankie de Jong for a long time, and landing him would be fantastic. In addition to De Jong, United are nearing completion on a deal for experienced midfielder Christian Eriksen. Eriksen's Manchester United medicals were reportedly scheduled for this week.
Speaking of the brilliance of Eriksen's deal for United Jacque Talbot (as per This Is Football) says, "I think he’s such a good buy because it’s the shrewd sort of purchase that United have been crying out for, Christian Eriksen. He’s such a quality player.
"I think he’s a world-class player."
Eriksen has been impressive for years. Though a midfielder, he has in his career managed 110 and 162 assists. Eriksen will undoubtedly provide another dynamic to United's style of play.
