On Monday evening was an optimistic time for Kenyans as two athletics long distance events were headed into the final. This events were all time Kenyan athletes favorite the men's 3000 metres steeplechase and women 5000 metres.
Kenyan fans were assured of a medal in both of the events mainly gold in the men's event as Kenya has been dominant in the race for over four decades now.One medal was achieved in each of the races but a gold medal never came to pass.
Angry kenyans have taken into social media to share their disappointments after the gold medal loss in the men's event.Kenyas Benjamin Kigen came in third behind Moroccan Bakkali who won the gold medal and Ethiopia's Girma who won the silver.
Some of the Kenyan fans think this is history made but in a negative way.On the other hand, a couple of Kenyans remained positive as they congratulated Hellen Obiri for winning silver in the women race behind Sifan Hassan of Netherlands.
Obiri is one of the few kenyan athletes who has received congratulatory messages from fans alongside Ferdinand Omanyala who made history by missing the men's 100 metres final by a whisker.
Do you think Kenyan athletes can still bag in enough medals in the remaining few races especially gold medals? Feel free to share your views on the comment section and remember to share and follow for more news.
