Despite the difficulties and the precarious economic situation, some things are more important than money. This winter, Arsenal made Barcelona a €70 million offer for the Brazilian Raphinha, but the club declined.
The Brazilian international's signing last summer cost Barça €58 million fixed and over €7 million in add-ons, but would have been amortized by a fifth. Arsenal's offer was therefore a decent one economically, but the Catalan club declined it.
Raphinha is a long-term bet, and the coaching staff also has faith in him. A sale is not possible. The winger has appeared in 32 games for Barça this season, scoring seven goals and setting up nine more.
Raphinha's journey to the top of football has been arduous and labor-intensive. At the age of 19, he made his first-team debut for Brazilian club Ava FC after rising through the youth systems.
He quickly signed with Vitória Guimaraes in the Portuguese Primeira League after that. He signed for fellow Portuguese team Sporting Club for a cost of 6.5 million two years later, in the 2018–19 campaign.
Raphinha left for Rennes in the summer of 2019 after only one season, and Leeds United acquired his services in the summer of 2020 for €18.6 million. Rennes had spent 21 million for him. a steadily ascending career that was established over time and with determination.
