Jamaica's compulsory participation in sports is legendary. Did you know Jamaica is actually monarch?

Jamaica is an island country situated in the Caribbean sea. It is estimated as the third largest of the Caribbean islands after Cuba and Hispaniola islands. It's capital is known as Kingstone.

Jamaica has mainly become a popular country due to its popular sports champions to the likes of Usain Bolt, the fastest man in the world. Of cause, there has been many athletees like Elaine Thompson, Sherry Ann Fraser and also Yohan Blake. Rigorous training in sports throughout school is compulsory hence the many gold medals in the sports. The athletes above can affirm this. Jamaica also boosts of Champion Cricketers among them George Headlyn, Court Walsh and Chris Gayle. Jamaican cricketers are reknown as one of the most competitive teams in the world.

Though a small nation, Jamaica has had a strong global presence in the music industry. Reggae, ska, mento, rocksteady, dub and recently dancehall and raggae music genre are known to have their origin in the island.

Jamaica is approximately 10990km² in area. Being a small island that sits along a hurricane belt, Jamaica is often hit by hurricanes.

Surprisingly, the most preferred religion is Christianity at 68% , of which 65% is protestantism. Rastafarianism is practiced by roughly 1.1% of the population ( estimated at 30,000 ) practice rastafarianism.

Contrary to what many Africans believe smoking marijuana (ganja) is illegal in public in the island. However, farming the herb for medicinal purposes is allowed. Smoking ganja is only allowed in various designated shrines. For it is considered to be for therapeutic reasons.
