Chelsea are said to be making significant progress in the negotiations to sign Sevilla’s center back Joules Kounde. According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have already knocked down half of the transfer process by agreeing on personal terms with the player; the only deal remaining to be agreed on is the transfer fee.
Joules Kounde has been reserved in the last three outings for Sevilla who do not want the defender to get injured. Kounde has been training with the rest of the team to maintain his fitness levels as he eyes a premature exit. Sevilla are open to selling the defender because it is the club’s policy to make more money from homegrown players.
Edouard Mendy is reportedly one match away from equaling Petr Cech’s record of 28 clean sheets in the first 48 Premier League appearances for Chelsea. Mendy has been phenomenal ever since he signed for Chelsea last year consequently being fancied to be Chelsea’s best player by the fans.
His work rate has been commendable both on and off the pitch. Thomas Tuchel has also grown into liking the goalkeeper as he prefers to play him more than Kepa Arrizabalaga who is equally talented. Mendy will however have to face Liverpool in order to equal Cech’s record over the weekend. Will he keep out Salah, Jota, and Mane on Saturday?
Former Liverpool defender Jaimie Carragher has made a bold statement after he claimed that Lukaku’s dominance will be suppressed by Virgil Van Dijk because the latter is astutely conversed with how to handle such diminutive strikers. Carragher said that Liverpool will not shift their plans for Chelsea because Lukaku will not be a threat to them at all.
