Why Manchester United Will Not Win The Premier League Before Chelsea Do (Opinion)

The Premier League new season is proving to be quite an exciting one in terms of competition with the top sides having recruited great players for the title charge.

However, it has to be said that Manchester United stole the headlines of the transfer window after landing Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus.

The 36-year-old returned to Old Trafford after 12 years with ambitions of winning even more trophies as he nears retirement.

The arrival of Cristiano has made United to be declared a top title contender this season considering they also reinforced other areas signing Varane and Jadon Sancho as well.

On the other hand, Chelsea also had quite a great window bringing back Romelu Lukaku and also securing Saul Nigez on loan from Atletico.

The reason to why Chelsea are well poised to snatch the title ahead of Manchester United lies on one area that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer failed to work on this summer, a defensive midfielder.

The likes of Fred and Scott McTominay have proven not quite the solution in this position leaving United fans shouting for a better DM.

Chelsea have no problem in that area with main man N'Golo Kante arguably the best Cdm in the world.

This makes the blues to have an added advantage over United who have always looked exposed in that middle area of the pitch when playing against counter attacking teams.

It is for this reason that in my opinion I think Chelsea have a better squad overall on terms of team depth as well to challenge for both the Premier League and defend their Champions League title.

United are not that much behind but unless Solskjaer finds a young and experienced defensive midfielder who will give the back four solid covering, then there is still a lot to be done.

Meanwhile, who do you think United should sign in January to fill that DM spot?
