World Records (WR) Currently Held By Kenyan Athletes

1. Men 800 M (1:40:91)

The men 800 metres world record is currently held by the the legend David Lekuta Rudisha. He holds the record with a time of 1:40:91 which he set in the London 2012 Olympic games. He is the first person to ever run the 800 M course under 1:41.

2. Men's Marathon (2:01:39)

Eliud Kipchoge EGH is the current Marathon World Record Holder which he set on 16th September 2018 at the 2018 Berlin Marathon. Kipchoge is also the first man to run a marathon under two hours though that can't be recorded as a record.

3. 10 K ROAD RACE (26:24)

Rhonex Kipruto broke the previous world record to earn himself a spot amongst the world record holders in the athletic world. The 10k world record is a time of 26:24. Rhonex set the record on December 2020 in Valencia, Spain.

4. 3000 Metres (7:20.67)

In the year 1996 a Kenyan runner, Daniel Komen set a record of 7:20.67 in the 3000 metres race in Italy. 25 years later, the record still stands.

5. 1000 Metres (2:11.96)

Noah Ngeny set the 1000 metres record back in the year 1999 in Rieti, Italy. The record has been standing for over two decades.

6. Half Marathon (57:32)

On December 6, 2020 in Valencia, Spain, Kibiwott Kandie became the first man to ever finish a half marathon under 58 minutes. He set the half marathon world record time of 57:32.

7. 4×1500 Relay (14:22.22)

In Nassau, Bahamas in 2014, Kenya's elite runners comprising of Collins Cheboi, Silas Kiplagat, James Magut and Asbel Kiprop set a world record of the 4×1500 relay men's race to a time of 14:22.22. They ran at a time of 3:38.6, 3:32.5, 3:38.8 and 3:34.3 respectively.

8. 4×800 Relay (7:02.43)

A team comprising of Joseph Mutua (1:46.73), William Yiampoy (1:44.38), Ismael Kimboch (1:45.92) and Wilfred Bungei (1:45.48) set the world record in a 4×800 metres race to set a time of 7:02.43 in Brussels, Belgium. The set this record two decades back in the year 2006.
