Olivier Giroud Double Sees Milan Beat Inter In Thrilling Derby

Olivier Giroud came off the bench and flipped the Derby della Madonnina on its head, scoring twice to help Milan defeat Inter 2-1.

The Nerazzurri had a better start and believed they had opened the scoring after 11 minutes when Denzel Dumfries headed in.

The goal was disallowed by the referee because the ball from the cross was ruled to have gone out of play.

The Rossoneri saw it as a sign of weakness and eventually awoke halfway through the half. Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez both had good opportunities, but Samir Handanovic was up to the task.

However, Inter took the lead on 38 minutes when Ivan Perisic ghosted in at the far post and blasted first time.

Stefano Piolo's side were striving for an equalizer in the second half but were met by a tenacious Inter backline that was clinging to the clean sheet with all they had.

With 15 minutes left, Olivier Giroud slipped in at the back post to tie the score.

Soon later, it was the French striker who scored Milan's second goal of the game, turning on a sixpence inside the box and striking low into the bottom corner

Theo Hernandez scored a late goal for the side when he was sent off for a professional foul on Denzel Dumfries, but Milan held on for the victory.
