Despite his good performance in the first two matches, Enner Valencia played his last game in the 2022 world cup against Senegal at the Al Khalifa stadium.
Ecuador were outfashioned by the Teranga Lions for a spot in the last 16 of the 2022 world cup finals. Goals from Ismaila sarr and Kalidou Koulibaly were enough to send the South Americans back home.
Though there have emerged mixed reactions to the cause of senegals second goal. Many seem to point out the Captain Enner Valencia for failing to clear a dangerous cross from Gueye thus giving Koulibaly to volley home at a very close range. Though Ecuador posed dangerous attacks from then, they were unable to find a way through the Senegalese defense which was very firm.
Mixed reactions from fans emerged up after the final whistle. Many went on to blame the Ecuador Captain for the elimination. Some belived that if he cleared Gueye's delivery, it would have finished draw hence favouring Ecuador.
