Harambee starlet Neddy Atieno elated to be recalled years after banishment.

FKF recalled frenetic forward Neddy Atieno to the national team, the Harambee Starlets, ahead of the 2022 Africa Women's Cup of Nations (WCON) qualifier against South Sudan.

The Ulinzi starlets forward was last with the team in July 2018 during the Cecafa tournament where they finished a distant fourth and has since been away from the team since then.

She has been instrumental in Ulinzi Starlets being the Captain, where she helped the team finish 2nd place in Zone A of the league behind Thika Queens, and just recently she helped the team win the inaugural FKF women's cup, earning him a slot in the provisional Harambee Starlets squad after three years of being out of action for the national team.

In an interview with the media after the call, Neddy expressed his happiness at having been called to represent the country, while also assuring fans that there was positive energy in the camp, hoping to inspire the youthful teammates that it has been done before and it can also be done. Lastly, she urged fans to support as well as believe in them since they are getting in shape and will be ready to fight till the last minute to make Kenya proud.

Neddy's inclusion into the team comes in handy to give a perfect blend of experienced players and youthful players, since Mwahalima Dogo Adam, Dorcus Shikobe, and Ruth Ingosi are not in camp due to club commitments and therefore will not feature in the match. We wish them all the best.
