Liverpool is at risk of losing a champions league spot for the next season. They are currently in position six with 54 points with less than six games left to the end of the season. They are 4 points behind Chelsea who are in fourth place.
Jürgen Klopp, Liverpool’s manager, wasn’t pleased with today’s result as Newcastle secured a last minutes goal making it a draw of a goal from each side. Joseph Willock scored the equalizing goal in the 95th minute with an assist from Dwight Gayle. Liverpool had secured an early lead in the 3rd minute with a goal from Mohamed Salah.
Given that the current top four teams win the remaining games this will mean no spot for the reds. Today’s draw comes after two others against Leeds and also real Madrid.
The red will face the red devils, Manchester United, who are second on the table, in their next match at Old Trafford.
‘’We learn or we don’t play champions league'', these were the comments from the furious manager Jürgen Klopp when addressing their top-four hopes. He went on to suggest that his players were guilty of lowering their guard after missing chances of adding to their lead.
