With less than five minutes remaining on the clock, Brazil who were cruising courtesy of a well-taken goal by Neymar had all but finished the job. However, no-one could have predicted what followed next as the Brazilians crumbled like a house of cards, courtesy of one poor decision by Brazil manager Tite.
The Brazilian manager decided to introduce Manchester United midfielder Fred, assuming that the game had already been won, forgetting that Brazil needed to keep hold of the ball to avoid a Croatia counter attack.
Lucas Pacqueta the player whom Fred replaced should not have been taken off considering Fred's lack of technical or aerial ability.
Hence, Brazil conceded a last-minute equalizer after Fred's needless loss of the ball inside the Croatia half, led to a quick fire counter attack. Neymar's after Croatia's goal said it all.
He had given everything including scoring a beautiful goal to put his team ahead only for his teammates to let him down in the dying moments of the game. There were other culprits like Marquinhos who missed his penalty while he also allowed the shot from Croatia to deflect off him before flying in the goal.
However, Fred should really never have been introduced to this game. Not with five minutes remaining anyway.
