According to the latest reports, two free agent goalkeepers are considered favorites to replace Wilfredo Caballero who announced his exit from Stamford Bridge after three years at the West London club. Wayne Hennessey and Marcus Bertinelli have been shortlisted as potential replacements for the third-choice goalkeeper at Chelsea.
Wayne Hennessey has been the most linked between the two, with Chelsea having already started negotiations with the 32-year-old. As for Bertinelli, scouts have reported that the Argentine is ready and willing to join Chelsea if the negotiations with Hennessey collapse. There is no rush in the negotiations as Chelsea also has the option of promoting an Academy goalkeeper to the senior squad who will replace Caballero but scouts have advised it is better to sign an experienced goalkeeper in that position.
Danny Ings has been put in the spotlight once again after it was revealed that the 29-year-old is contemplating a move away from Saint Mary’s Park. Chelsea fans have been mounding pressure on Marina Granovskaia to launch negotiations with the player who has only one year left in his contract with Southampton.
Going by the statistics, Ings would be a decent replacement for Olivier Giroud who signed for AC Milan about a week ago. Danny Ings is also known for his high work rate on the pitch which consequently adds depth and quality to the squad. Despite the fans’ persistent pleas, Chelsea is not interested in signing the Southampton main man.
Another revelation of why Hakimi dodged Chelsea for PSG has surfaced after rumors erupted that Chelsea would not comply with Hakimi’s salary demands. His agent, Rusco Bartina disclosed that PSG offered a mouthwatering salary offer that “any player in his right mind would not refuse.” He clarified, however, that Hakimi had already settled on going to France even before Chelsea tabled an offer.
