He grew up in Nairobi, Lucky Summer estate being he last born in a family of six . Despite being an excellent football player from a very young age, her mother never intended r saw football a a perfect career for her son.
As always for teenagers living in the estates of Nairobi without a proper guidance one always turns out to be sower but not for the determined engineer
life in Lucky summer was challenging, having being raised by a single mum after losing his dad when he was seven years old. His mother assumed both parents responsibilities and modled him to the character the is now.
His start on the football career was not smooth as he wished for, playing bare foot in the dirsty pitches was the norm and Injuries were a common factor.
His vision at an earlier age didn't involve playing football. It is only after joining Upper Hill School for his secondary education that Olunga started paying attention to football.
Shortly after, he was approached by coach Ghost Mulee to join their academy and that is when he joined Liberty Sports Academy.

After becoming one of the best players and the top scorer in the high school football competitions, he decided to take football seriously and joined Tusker Football Club in 2013 immediately after high school.
After high school, he joined the Technical University of Kenya and studied geospatial engineering.
It was in GorMahia under the famous Ze Maria that Olunga made a name of himselfIn in 2015 he was the most valuable player and his team Gormahia had clinched the league trophy.

At 21 year's of age he had won what needed to be won in Kenyan football and he was awaiting for a bigger challenge and Europe came calling and he obliged.
As target man for Djurgadens, the Swedish top tier leage will always remember him as he left a footprint. Then he moved to Spain for a year to Girona FC registering a hatrick at one particular time.
Then China for a couple of months then he landed in Japan in 2018, and he delivered the quality needed in absolute perfection for Kashiwa Reysol. He was the top scorer the current completed season and named as the most valuable player of the league.
This impressive success hasn't stopped as Al Duhail of the Qatari super league had to queched their thirst for a talisman by signing Reysol lethal striker Ogada Olunga It was reported that the Qatar side agreed on a 7 million Euros as transfer fees approximately 890 million Kenya shillings. Come to think of it 8 million monthly when he was in Japan a double the figure for him as salary in Qatar
Many have been criticizing olungas move to the so called famers league's and had wished him to either join an elite league in Europe, the quality he possesses is very much needed there.
Maybe on a different angle they might be right, in all honesty real football is in Europe the champions league and the Europa league's.
Without taking anything from Olungas success I believe that he's agents could have done better but on the other hand playing in Europe and the bank isn't full was it it for?
It's time for Olunga to make money and when an opportunity to do so present itself he'll grab it with an open arms, next stop will be USA for a retirement possibly.
