Arteta Expected to Counter Bid Tabled by Utd for Lisandro

Sime Vsraljko

Manchester United have missed out on the chance to sign prolific full back Sime Vsraljko who recently signed a three year deal with Greek side Olympiacos. According to Fabrizio Romano, the 29 year old had instructed his agent to prioritize the first deal on the table and only after it collapses should he take into consideration another. Luckily for Olympiacos, Vrsaljko was very cooperative about the terms of the transfer and that expedited the transfer process.

Manchester United were among the few clubs that had contacted the player’s agent immediately after he was released by Atletico Madrid. Since Manchester United are contemplating releasing Aaron Wan Bissaka, Vrsaljko stood out as one of the ideal replacements for the 26 year old. Unfortunately for the Red Devils, the Croatian has already pledged his allegiance to another club.

Lisandro Martinez

Manchester United recently tabled an improved offer to Ajax for Lisandro Martinez . The exact amount has not yet been quoted to the media, but it seems to have had the desired effect since the Ajax’s board is pondering over the bid. Erik Ten Hag is highly motivated to sign the defender since he wants to replace Harry Maguire with a worthy defender but is at the same time well aware that adapting to the new league will definitely not be easy.

Arsenal are also another impediment in the transfer deal since they also want the services of the defender. Martinez is a big target for Mikel Arteta and the Spaniard manager will definitely do everything in his power to ensure that he wins the race. A bidding war seems to be imminent at this point.
