A 22,000 seater ultra-modern stadium is set to be constructed in Siaya County.
Siaya County is soon going to have a modern international stadium with a 22,000 capacity. In the year 2018, Governor Cornel Rasanga presided over a ksh.394 million contract signing ceremony, to construct an Ultra-modern stadium. The contract was signed with Jiangsu Provincial Construction Company Limited from China.
Governor Rasanga said the stadium will mainly target to increase the access to modern sporting facilities for Siaya County citizens. It will help to nature talents and exposure to all the youths in the county.
The stadium is also going to have a capability of hosting both national and international sporting events.
It is now two years since the construction began and the stadium is reported to be almost 75% complete. This is according to the contractor, it will be complete by December 2020. During his visit to the project, Governor Rasanga said the stadium will be launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“We will ask President Uhuru Kenyatta to not only consider Siaya to host the national event at the stadium in December but to also attend the occasion as a way to celebrate its launch ,” he said.
The county has promised to support Bondo United which is currently playing the Football Kenya Federation division. The stadium is also set to be the home ground for Bondo United. The stadium will contain all the following features, floodlights, amphitheatre, external works, press conference room, dressing rooms and many more.
