A looming transfer battle is expected between Chelsea and Arsenal over England's defender as both London sides are seeking the services of the Brighton and Hove Albion man. Although at this current moment, Arteta's side are ahead in the race to sign the England International, it can all change quickly if Tuchel's side really step-up their interest.
Sources indicate that Chelsea have joined the battle to sign the highly rated centre back, Ben White, from Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion. Tuchel is understood to want to strengthen his backline as he prepares to pause for a serious title race next season. The English defender made an impressive performance for Brighton last season and has attracted suitors who want to seal moves for the star away from Brighton next season.
The 23 years old made a total of 39 appearances in Brighton's backline in the 2020/21 season, impressing alongside fellow centre-half partner Dunk. With Arsenal earlier on reported to be in 'advanced talks' with Brighton to sign the defender for a fee of £50million in total, the entry of their London rivals Chelsea may bring a stabling block for the Gunners.
Transfers understands that a deal is not yet done between the Gunners and Brighton, meaning that there is still time for other clubs to enter the race. This transfer may likely turn a hard to crack one as White had earlier hinted on wanting to join a club playing in European competitions. With Arsenal out of the European competitions, Chelsea will likely stand a chance to snatch the defender.
